Due to an expansion of the Step Global product lines we need to add a sales engineer that can build business opportunities around an exciting range of technologies and capabilities. Step Global is a complete solution provider from architecture level design through development of hardware and software to full ongoing service and maintenance. The Sales Engineer position is one of securing new sales opportunities focused on our key products and capabilities. This is achieved by using their technical knowledge to specify best fit products/systems. The position will hunt out new relationships and develop new opportunities as well as provide key account management to our existing key customers.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Have a tertiary engineering qualification
  • Have a solid basic understanding of wireless communications, automotive, RFID, GNSS and cloud computing technologies
  • Have an ability to capture a customers true needs and provide a solution that you can demonstrate will add value to their business
  • Have proficient verbal and written skills
  • Have excellent negotiation and sales skills
  • Have a systematic approach to sales opportunities management
  • Willingness to travel
  • Be self motivated with a hunger for searching out new opportunities
  • Have an ability to write and present technical papers on related applications to our technologies
  • Have an ability to set, manage and access your own work
  • Have the right to live and work in Australia

Primary job purpose:

To build brand awareness, create customer engagement and sales opportunities for Step Global products and solutions through:

  • Planning, developing, implementing and maintaining marketing activities across multiple mediums
  • Coordination of the company marketing, advertising and content generation activities.
  • Implementation of strategic social media content including scheduling and posting across multiple interfaces
  • Digital activities including managing website, generating engaging content and SEO Optimisation.
  • Being the “voice” of Step Global across LinkedIn and other social media.
  • Generating, publishing and sharing of daily content that builds meaningful connections with our community, potential and current clients, communicate our success story etc
  • Becoming fluent in our brand, products, solutions, customers and our competitors
  • Monitor and report on marketing initiatives and successes
  • Analysing market reports
  • Coordinating and attending events

Skills and Experience:

  • Solid experience as a Marketing Specialist with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Proven track record adding value and growing revenue in a technical environment
  • Experience with all relevant digital marketing platforms, driving online engagement and growth.
  • Ability to identify leading indicators of marketing performance and experience with monitoring and reporting those key measurables
  • Excellent planning and implementation skills
  • Experience in producing blog or marketing content
  • Great professional communication skills
  • Self-motivated and highly organized with the ability to work autonomously
  • A strong team and customer orientation with a positive attitude and the willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Ability to prepare and present high-level reports
  • Creative thinker with exceptional writing, editing and communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrates creativity and innovative thinking


  • Minimum of 3 years relevant marketing experience with similar technology
  • Tertiary Qualification with an emphasis on digital marketing
